Full Automation of MInes and Refineries (20 years) - RL Dec 20
I'm going to fully automate all mining operations and refineries across the Imperium. Essentially, there will no longer be workers in those fields. At first, this will lose people jobs, but everyone is being told now (20 years in advance). Eventually, the idea is to allow our citizens to focus on furthering themselves in the cultural and scientific pursuits. This is just the first part of that initiative.


New Projects:
Ultranian Reflective Armor - This armor is meant to be a combination of Brass Tacks and Adamantium, with Reflective Armor technology also included. This stuff is also an improvement on all of those armor pieces, combining them all and improving on them. This is state-of-the-art Cyonian armor.

Regent-class Miner (5 years) - RL Jan 4, 2019
We are designing a new colossal mining ship. It is basically a giant carrier filled with 500 small starfighter-sized mining drones. The drones mine ore from asteroids, returning the ore to the Regent-class. The Regent has onboard automated refineries. The Regent is meant to be mostly a stationary platform, but is still basically a spaceship (it can move, but is not meant to do so very often). Transportation will be handled by other ships.

Biopulse cannons (20 years) - RL Feb 4, 2019
Biopulse cannons are weapons that act as EMPs for living creatures, leaving electronics unharmed but killing any organic matter within a 50-foot radius of the site of impact. They use large shells, only able to be fired from a tank or artillery piece. They have a range of 200 feet.

BDT (Biopulse Deployment Tank (25 years) - RL Feb 14, 2019
The BDT is a tank meant to deploy a single large Biopulse Cannon. They have a maximum ground speed of 55 mph and are armed with 2 Blazing Fang lateral turrets in addition to the Biopulse Cannon. They are equipped with Aurelian Shields and Ultranian Reflective Armor.

Are those cannons supposed to have the tech, or just the warhead?

If its just the warhead, do your tank designs really need to call that out?

I assume its what, super-high radiation? That would work for most creatures but not all necessarily; to create a "EMP" equivalent for life, you're only ever gonna get some fraction (big or small) of it (much like EMPs and types of electronics).

To be really honest, I'm just copypasta-ing the Defoliator from the newer Clone Wars Animated Series. I have no idea how it would work. ;)

I think that was just a massive warhead, in the context of Star Wars. This is the tank they used on teh village of pacifist monkey-people right?

Personally, of the Separatist super weapons that would be helpful, eth Malevolence and the shielded-armored tanks on Geonosis both seem like the best for CYOC. The Defoliator is already weaker than most armor or artillery units because of a low range and because it doesn't damage shields, easier to just use 'brue force' type weapons like normal bombs which kill.

The Biotic Sheath

Quick History:
The Biotic Sheath is an "organic" power armor and the new standard suit of Baujantecois infantry. It is a heavy unit that merges with the specialized cybernetic mechanisms of a soldier to become a powerful extension of their mind and body. Conventional thought within Warriors' Guild circles was conflicted over phasing out the KUSH Battle Armor outfits with a newer system. Mass troop movements and rapidly simplified militia preparation had been a polestar of Old Baunairi military doctrine. Many felt a shift toward a more streamlined, elite armor would reduce the effectiveness of the Warriors' Guild's domestically raised forces. But those voices relented over the years as it became increasingly clear a qualitative progression must be made, culminating in plans for what is known in the security community as "the Biotic Sheath".

Initial notes for production indicate that 7 million suits were planned until additional features and increased training requirements (2-3 years) for the sheath reduced it to 4 million. The length of time it takes to create the sheath and get soldiers proficient in it also limits short term production in an unfolding war, which many in the military community believe must be offset with increased purchases of mercenaries to preserve the purity of the nation.

AI/Computing:
The most distinctive feature of the Biotic Sheath is its status as "living". The sheath earned this classification in large part due to its internal and external computing characteristics, which were intended to provide the wearer with a highly adaptable extension of themselves. The primary feature in this regard is the raw amount of biological computing occurring throughout the entire construct.

The primary calculating apparatus in the sheath is based around a specialized Beast Nexus, a bundle of AI/human consciousness that performs higher level thought. Boosted by Liquid Light and Rainbow Mountain technology, the system thinks at a rate faster than several basic supercomputers. Advanced internal scanners based around biological material hooked into the Nexus can quickly "decode" information stored in it's Computing DNA network, allowing the suit to think fast with skill and depth. The Biotic Sheath is designed to be one of the most data dense pieces on the battlefield, able to channel large streams of data into split second tactical choices made with the speed and instinct of an actual beast.

Hooked into the regular networks, it shares data with all surrounding sheaths and is brimming with information about munition supplies, tactical movements, and enemy positioning (through revamped Revelation tech). Aided by a bevy of secondary AI networks and supportive Beast Nexus servers, the Sheath is able to recognize and respond to the few hacking attempts that would be able to bypass its exotic data systems.

Likewise, the Biotic Sheath has access to much of its own selective jamming techs, hacking modules, etc. to enhance its effectiveness in all aspects of an operation. Building on the works of projects such as Consortia of Blossoms, a rudimentary comms network called the Imperial Fern was created based around an artificial plant species that can communicate across distances using pheromones. This is to be used in instances where primary systems are compromised or in close range combat situations where non-electronic means of communication may be preferred.

Armor and Defense Features:
A common joke in the capital is that half the effort towards sheath redesigns went to its appearance. There's a kernel of truth to this as the Synod mandated the suits contain Janisist iconography and religious significance. So one of the first things people will notice about the sheath's armor is the irrational attention to aesthetic, with its alien glyphs and small crystalline nodes serving as a constant source of divine inspiration for soldiers.

Outside the questionable emphasis on beauty, the Biotic Sheath's *3.2m* body is layered with 8 inches thick armor including materials such as Brown Paladin, Brass Tacks, various organic metals designed specifically for the unit, and Whitesteel (all enhanced and slightly manipulable via programmable matter). Energy armor is also present at key joints with the usage of Magelight and moderate plasma shielding.

Additional layers of protection include an adaptable, bio-based gel to insulate from impacts and a skeletal frame surrounded by cybernetic muscle bundles composed of Brown Paladin and bio-metal created with specialized molecular assemblers. Aided by Self-Healing Nanobots, various systems can repair superficial damage as long as primary systems are not completely disabled.

*This is the standard but the sheath can be "grown" to accommodate a wide range of body types, especially those of soldiers hailing from Rellakh.

Weapon Systems:
The Biotic Sheath boasts extraordinary close range firepower and effective long range capabilities. It's greatest offensive tool is the Harbinger Cannon, a dual hand-held, heavy assault rifle with laser and explosive rounds. The Sheath can also possess extensive mini-missile pods, defensive grenade packs, redesigned "Cusser guns", micro-scalar systems (lethal and non-lethal settings), and diamond-tipped melee weaponry.

At the back of its carapace is a four-pronged backpack that both allows it to fly for limited periods. This ornate metallic cape can also separate into four heavy cybernetic "drones" armed with a powerful laser cannon and mini-missiles that it can use to engage enemies directly, or “tag” targets so they can be bombarded by the Sheath's guided weapon systems. They can effortlessly coordinate with each other for complex maneuvers and are able to remotely self-destruct, though this advised against by their creators.

Martian Shield Project

In Rome of ancient legend, the “Ancile” was a sacred shield, 12 of which (plural, “Ancilia”) resided in the Temple of Mars.

On the planet of Mars, in this present day, the need for such protection is evident, in the devastation wrought by recent events. As such, the Corporation is looking to establish, alongside it’s Martian neighbours, a defensive planetary-shield to safeguard against such future threats.

Each nation would be represented on a new planetary council and will be given full operational control of the shield above their respective aerospace, with an override of these functions and full raising of the planetary shield, only possible by the unanimous decision of all three Martian Majors (those players primarily located on Mars - Baun, Aresia & the PCG), or otherwise, by a majority of 70%.

Martian Majors - PCG, Aresia, Baun.
Martian Colonies - Mobius, Mattibean Mars, Cyon, Mar del Plata (role of NPC's, if any, to be discussed).

All those with interests on Mars are welcome to contribute (those more tech-minded, who'd like to brainstorm the practical/tech aspects of the project, especially so). Drop me a pm to get involved.

Done:

Troy Defensive Upgrade - new developments from the fortification of Beowulf have been advertised as able to be applied to the Troy. This project will strengthen the Troy's network of shields, and attach a number of defensive platforms surrounding it - both to provide additional shielding, in the same manner as the PDI shields on Beowulf, as well as providing additional weaponry and EW platforms.

Ongoing:

Beowulf Planetary Shield Development - the Beowulf planetary shield is a massive project in and of itself, which will require the development of more powerful and larger shields. When it is completed, the hope is that the shielding will rival the planetary shields of Earth (Hadrian) or Venus - though only by taking into consideration its layers. Research will take ~20 years to develop and test the large plasma shields necessary, while construction of the two main layers will take ~40 years afterwards. While research is being conducted, construction will begin on the already capable portions of the defensive network - the continental, regional, city, and town/neighborhood anti-bombardment shields on the planetary surface itself, as well as the construction of the twin layers of Planetary Defensive Installations - each consisting of 14 huge orbital stations. Each of these stations will be near one of the future shield nexus, and will have large hangars for gunships, heavy weaponry, fire control for the cluster of missile pods that will surround them, heavy defenses, and shield generators for 'side shielding'. The planetary surface will also have its SOM launchers and long range SSM (Suface to Orbit Missile and Surface to Space Missile, respectively) increased substantially.

In the end, the completed Beowulf Defense will look like this:

Planetary Anti-Bombardment Shields

If either of the Planetary Shield layers are breached in one area, the PDIs 'side shields' will go up - which will seal the edges of the sections they create. These shields are weaker than the main shields, but it will make it so that one section can't simply be collapsed and then swarm beneath it.

Total project completion time: 18 years (Feb. 26)

Overkill Defense Revamp - Project Overkill has created the most powerful, capable, and dense defensive network in human history within the Mattibean Union. Despite its continuous focus on improvement, construction, and adjustment of units - this project is going to examine the designs and fortifications along our front line. Specifically, strongpoints, forts, and fortresses. All of these will get new developments in armor, active defenses, EW, weapons, and anti-orbit weaponry incorporated into their design and construction. 14 years (Feb 18)

Automated Gunships - Mattibean Gunships (used in space) have proven to be useful additions to fleets in anti-fighter, anti-missile, and anti-screening applications, while remaining fairly cheap. In an effort to reduce the amount of the fleet forced to defend and patrol Mattibean systems, automation and optimization of these designs (as well as possible, cheaper/worse variations) would allow for wide scale defensive deployment as system defense forces. 10 years (Jan 29)

Stealth Update - Another large update to our ground stealth systems, both in spec ops (eg Team 17) and in general. 15 years (Feb. 8)

New:

Bedazzle Network - Project Bedazzle and its subsequent improvements (contained/strengthened EMP weapons) are going to be applied to a fixed position fortified network - eg, surrounding a FOTL with a few dozen/hundred small Bedazzle nodes. Theoretical, prototypes, and full development will be done in this project. 15 years (Feb. 8)
