Big Gun wrote:Yeah, so basically Discord makes PlayDip irrelevant. Very sad. Not everyone plays on smartphones or wants an increased pressure of more comms... I’m disappointed.
Big Gun,
I was worried about this exact thing and raised a topic in the GM subforum. I was particularly worried about the lack of exposure to PbF on this site and the potential loss of uptake of new players, and the loss of our gradually but surely building archive. I can reassure you that we have agreed that PbF will not die. Discord will not make PlayDip irrelevant. While Discord is going to be used for comms in this game and probably most future games, all the maps and results will be posted in the forum as the game progresses (unless it's a game where maps specifically must be hidden, e.g. the exploration series by Aeschines) and the games will be archived with all maps and orders attached. All new GM's will be required to put in the effort to ensure games are posted in the forum alongside the Discord server. Discord is offered as a convenience, not a replacement.
Discord is pretty easy to use and understand. It's just different. I would encourage you to give it a try one time to see how the interaction between PlayDip and Discord works. You don't even need to download a program either. It just sits in another tab for me, just like my comms already did

Cheers,
Joe
P.s. Stoked to see Heptarchy fill up so quick again! This map surely needs to make it to the main site!
