Venus has never been as wealthy and powerful as it has been under the monarchial principle. The First and Second Empires are the high points of Venusian culture and society, with the points at which some or all of Venus subscribing to leftist ideologies being the worst times in our history. The Socialist-Nationalist Congress committed genocide against our Nerran bretheren, and class warfare against the peasant and upper classes. The UVSR caused even more destruction, shattering planetary unity to side with offworld powers and murder tens of millions of their own countrymen.

Venus is not an isolated case. Brazil is thrown into chaos solely by the actions of socialists and their aggressive, interventionist allies. West Africa experienced similar turmoil and destruction during their own socialist rebellion. It is clear that the worker and peasant are hurt most by self-serving communists who seek to use them for their own power-hungry ends. We will not hear anything else from the illegitimate UVSR, a Mattibean puppet.

A socialist protest against the party ban in Buenos Aries was put down with force, with many protestors being hospitalized or arrested by agents of the State Security Commissariat. The Emperor has declared martial law in the major cities with a large socialist presence, warning that he cannot be held responsible for whatever may happen if communists disobey the lawful authority of the Empire again.

PCG Terra has officially withdrawn from it's position as a member of the League of Cairo.

PCG Terra, formerly the CSR when it originally joined the League of Cairo, has deemed that the organisation is a white elephant that serves no greater purpose than to make it's larger member nations feel important.

The league, through it's inaction, has shown that it cares not one iota for the well-being of it's smaller member nations, whom it also calls upon to abandon this redundant and ineffectual laughing-stock of an organisation.

The board of PCG Mars stands in solidarity with our Terran brothers on the issue.

"This is unacceptable!" Constantine Astor, First Consul of the Cyon Imperium, exclaimed. "The Imperator is undoing every bit of diplomatic ground we have made in the past 5 centuries!"

"I understand, Lord Astor." replied his aide, gravely. "However, the matter still stands that the Imperator refuses to capitulate to the demands of the West African socialists. He will not allow a referendum in Paraguay to determine if they want us there or not."

Constantine huffed. "Hate socialists? Sure, I can let that one pass. Destroy all of our foreign relations? That cannot be allowed. He's already nearly pushed us to all-out war with several factions throughout South America, not to mention the world or the Solar System! Call the Senate immediately; we are holding an emergency session. This will not be!"

According to Cyonican Law, a 3/4 Senatorial vote is required to undo the final command of the Imperator. Out of the 282 Cyonian Senators, 225 voted to overturn the Imperator's decision, the first time in Cyonican history that an Imperator's final say has been successfully challenged by the Senate.

This is a historic day.

Imperator Maeloric blinked. He couldn't believe the report sitting before him. Vetoed? Impossible, and yet... here was the official senatorial document, sitting directly before him.

It was preposterous, unthinkable. It violated every tradition in the Imperium's history. Never before had the Senate dared to challenge the Imperator's authority! No, this was not possible.

Imperator Maeloric sighed. He was tired of so many official statements.

Imperator Maeloric and the Cyon Imperium refuse to accept the delirious demands of the socialist West Africa regarding Paraguay. It is ours. Period.

The following is brought to you by the CNN, or Cyon News Network.

CONFLICT IN THE IMPERIUM! IMPERATOR IMPEACHED! SENATE DISBANDED!

After the first historical overturn of an Imperator's command by the Cyonican Senate, Imperator Maeloric has thrown aside the laws of the land and trampled the Senate underfoot! Incensed, the Senate has called another emergency session, in which they unanimously voted to impeach the belligerent Imperator. In response, Maeloric moved to disband the Senate. There is vast confusion on every hand, and the Imperial guards have been mobilized. The military currently stationed within the borders of Cyon is in complete confusion, as the Ex-Senators have begun rallying many to their cause, intending to forcibly seize and relieve the incumbent Imperator.

Early indications suggest that the Corporation is likely to post quarterly losses in the region of a few hundred billion, following it’s involvement in the Brazilian Civil War.

Members of the governing body have been keen to point out that business is otherwise good, and these losses pose little threat to the long-term economic stability of the Corporation.

Among the citizenship at large, there is a consensus that the governing body has a fairly solid hold on the finances of the corporation and entirely trust the Corporations long-term strategy in this regard.

They are also delighted with the advancement of peace talks and much praise has been heaped upon PCG Terra, CEO, Filipe Valencia (and a little criticism too), for his hard-line stance that secured the compliance of fellow nations in moving forward with negotiations.

OOC:
There has to be some kind of Ying-to-the-Yang, so even though we're coming out of this thing with a result we can sell as a win to the people of the Corporation, there still has to a negative counterbalance and I reckon hitting us in the pocket is the right way to go.

Between the aid and peacekeepers, the whole thing was on a scale of a military operation comparable to anything else in the conflict, and even though we didn't actually engage in any combat (maybe a few minor, sporadic incidents), it still would've cost us a sizeable chunk of cash to mobilise the way we did.

Not sure what the final amount will be, I'll work it out once I have the all the details, but most of the expense has come during the second phase of the conflict, in which we increased our Aid and Peacekeeper deployments considerably.

Oh yeah, and I've passed off my little ultimatum as the words and actions of our Terran CEO, rather than our esteemed President on Mars (who certainly wouldn't have responded in such an abrasive manner :))

The UVSR has begun to send messages, statements, articles - (and so on) decrying the fate of the 'martyrs of the people' in Buenos Aires, whose only crime was to fight for the people - while the brutal StateSec forces were solely bent on bending and destroying the will and lives of the people of Venus.

These declarations have been the subject of heavy public support within the Union, with outrage at the incidents (even from a despotic regime like the one on Venus) growing increasingly prevalent.

Cyon is currently operating without a Senate. Imperator Maeloric is the sole authority. The outward conflict has died down, but the entire incident has left an extremely bad taste in everyone's mouth, especially the Senate. The country is in relative stability, but there is unease and discord brewing underneath the surface.

The Baunszalcotech Federation is undergoing several new military reforms in the wake of the recent violence that seems to be washing over the worlds. As the socialist threat abounds on Earth and Baunairi interests are increasingly at risk, Premier Jawad Tammertert met with high profile military officials to discuss future efforts to streamline the Baunairi armed forces and change military culture. Large efforts have already been undertaken over the last several years to increase professionalism and the degree to which Baunair can project power. In a press conference to reporters, Tammertert boasted of how the Baunairi military raised its entry requirements and doubled funding, taking the number of active troops from over 18 million to roughly 9 million. Similar progress has been made in the technological might of the military, where an emphasis on computer technology and renovations of old designs haVE resulted in a more modern force fully capable of defending the nation from any Martian forces attempting to invade.

However, in the address made to the media, Tammertert highlighted the necessity of increasing the worth of individual soldiers to even greater extents, and further integration of war beasts into Baunairi military doctrine. These two are believed to be polestars of the new programs being undertaken to enhance Baunairi military power. Not many details were provided, as such developments are expected to be conducted in secret, but insiders to the situation have stated that the military should expect new cybernetic enhancements, better shielding, and looser administration. He stated efforts must be made to increase the ability of the Baunairi military to project power quickly and stealthily, suggesting he will rebuild the Baunairi space force in a less grand manner.

Tammertert also hinted that the premiership will experiment with efforts to privatize the Baunairi armed forces, citing how it can be a valuable source of revenue as well as outsource certain responsibilities to the corporate world. This has been an ongoing debate within the Baunairi security community, with many in opposition citing how "mercenaries" lack loyalty and are susceptible to infiltration by those who seek to subvert the nation. These concerns are readily apparent in the recent conflict that arisen between the Tammertert premiership and King Orinza, leader of the Szalchian community on Mars. The main authority of the roughly 300 million Szalchians who settled in Baunair after the cataclysm has become a powerful political authority in only a few years. Many in his community have complained of discrimination and lack of trust between themselves and the Baunairi, leading him to make inflammatory remarks about Tammertert and the Baunairi government at large.

Orinza has publicly criticized Baunairi policy in Brazil and has challenged Tammertert's personal religious views, implying in a recent interview that he converted to Janisism to win votes in the Costan referendum. Tammertert recently experienced a political firestorm when leaked tapes found him making disparaging jokes about Szalchian culture and their preference for the colder regions of Mars. He has since apologized. He also recently had to fire a top aide after it was revealed she had stated she wished more Szalchians died in the cataclysm, bemoaning how they are now the largest minority culture in Baunair. Though tensions aren't particularly high, King Orinza does possess large amounts of political sway that has made military officials weary of him, especially given how Szalchians now compose over 40% of the intelligence community according to some reports. Many officials believe a move to privatize the security apparatus of Baunair could lead to King Orinza exercising more control by decentralizing authority...

“Looking Back” is a popular history show aimed at Martian youngsters, which attempts to educate them on the history and cultures of our sister planets.

Below is an excerpt from an episode on Earth Music:

Arguably the most influential act in all of music history is the ancient quartet of George, Ringo & their two singing guitarists, popularly know as The Beetles.

Long before Saint Bono came to prominence, the Beetles redefined the musical landscape on Earth, conquering the world like an uppity dictator, but doing it with music, instead of tanks.

Video footage tells us that they came from humble beginnings, unable to afford different hair-cuts in the early days, forced to share the same microphone when singing on stage and could only afford to be filmed in black-and-white, not colour.

However they were able to break out from conventional music after experimenting with drugs and began recording deeper more philosophical musings, such as the acclaimed “Yellow Submarine” & “Daydream Believer”

The band eventually broke up. It was a sad event and because emoji’s hadn’t been invented yet, people had to cry with their actual faces.

George went on to buy a snake and become patron of a flying circus and one of the other two got shot for protesting about a wheat field or something.

Reports indicate that Ringo turned into a alcoholic train and the other guitarist grew some wings. Clearly these were the early days of genetic modifications and we cannot be sure how successful these upgrade were.

Just a fun post to lift everyones mood around here. Hope you enjoy. :)

Edit: I've also moved this to the flavour repository, as I think that's more appropriate
