No need to start from scratch. There's already a dip tournament at MidCon in Derby in November.

I've thought of going in previous years but never got to it. Reading between the lines, they're short of numbers so a playdip invasion may be quite welcome.

It's probably worthy of its own thread, to avoid derailing this one.

I thought about this. There are one or two issues. Firstly, it is not a tournament. At least that is my understanding. I spoke to the guy (Jeremy) who chairs MidCon while we were at the WDC, and he said it is basically a free for all with all types of games. People bring whatever they want. He said there might be one Dip board there. I can try to talk to him, but I am guessing he wouldn't want to organize the tournament within that framework, in terms of managing the drawing of players for each game, the timing of the turns, secret ballots, adjudicating, and so on. So what we would be getting would be a venue. We would still have to organize the tournament. And I don't know whether the venue for the MidCon is the right setting. Again, something to look into. Also, I was considering going to MidCon for the other stuff, and can't do both at the same time. And furthermore, if I am going to organize things, I have to find a weekend that I can commit to doing it, and I don't think I can do that during th MidCon time frame. And, if I am going to do it, I would want to arrange a venue close to my home, so that I can manage the event properly. Those are just my thoughts for now. Any ideas are welcome.

I agree that this should not happen during MidCon. If you take this in hand, GPD, I'll be happy to offer you every support :D

I am also considering Midcon this year and would also be interested in a mini Diplomacy tournament.

LDC (London Diplomacy Club) also meets every month, on a Sunday, hosted by the runner up at this years WDC. (Marvin Fried) We operate 15 minute rolling deadlines like were seen at WDC and everyone is welcome.

Maybe spring bank holiday week would work best for me as we have a shutdown. I have to check the dates, but end of May-ish.

Spring Bank week would be 28 May to 1 Jun, so we could do anything between 26 May and 3 Jun 2018.
