Trapped Mafia

Postby condude1 » 13 Jan 2017, 23:16

This is an idea I've had for a while, in an attempt to involve players with the flavour of the game. It's quite complex, and would need to be run during the Summer, when I have time to respond quickly to messages.

The idea is that townies go scouting every day into adjacent rooms, and have to use creativity to find items, and/or avoid unfortunate situations in these rooms. They also bring back information for the town to use to avoid deleterious events at night.

I'm posting it here because I want to know whether there's interest in such a mechanic, and whether the rules make sense.

Edit: So sorry, forgot to give you access.

I would like to join. And probably die. Here's hoping I'm better at participating and reading than my previous attempts.

Questions: Do the slaves have prior knowledge or any advantages scouting? If this is too specific, do the slaves have any advantage at all aside from the knife? Also, it's mentioned specifically that anyone lynched is eliminated permanently. Does this mean it's possible to be resurrected if you aren't lynched but die elsewhere?

This won't be run for a while, I would need to be extremely active in the scouting phase, which, unless I time the day/night cycles to make the scouting phase land directly on weekends, I won't have during the school year. I could make it work by doing 3 day night phases and 4 day day phases, but it'd be easier in the Summer.

I'm not sure on the slave scouting point. Originally, the answer was no. However, it would make sense flavorifically, and I might be able to just give them an idea of how dangerous rooms are?

As for resurrection, it will be in the game. Of course, it would have to be on a powerful, and hence hard to find, item. With the prevalence of ways to screw up and die, resurrection's not as OP as it might be.

And as for the dying part, you don't need to scout. You can also stay at home and play it safe.

Looks interesting.

I may or may not be able to play, summer is busy at times. But yes, the mechanic is interesting.

Did you really forget to give access again? ;)

Alright, I'm working on the items. I'll update the rules some time to reflect some changes I've made. I'm hoping to run this in Late May/early June.

Oh, also, there are hidden rules. Diabolical hidden rules. I will make absolutely no promises about the items that may appear, except that they will be many, and they will be creative. Common sense is the most valuable thing to counteract my evil schemes. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. If something seems like it's going to kill you, there's a decent chance it will. If something seems warm and fluffy, it'll probably kill you as well  (That one's a joke ;) ).
