Base unit movement is 1 province a turn. This can be increased by technology or railroads. If railroads exist in enemy provinces, you can only use them if you have built a supply depot in that province.

I was hoping this would maybe be different for Cavalry.

Well, organized cavalry doesn't necessarily move faster than infantry. Perhaps slightly faster, but more of a 1.5, especially if railroads are a 2.

Cavalry should move faster than infantry. How would moving one and a half provinces work?

no-one would send just Cavalry unless they were scouting and thats done in a differant way, so most likely they would be sent with inf and would stay together as a group, also if the cav unit moves fast it will subtract from its effectiveness in battle

It wouldn't work. I was just guessing how fast they could move relative to infantry, in terms of speed.

Unless they were catching up with the rest of the army.

Cavalry really needs to be thought about, they are becoming an obsolete unit by this point in history.
