Shared IP users

Hi,

Having got really into the site and talked about it at work I have a colleague who wants to play. My concern is that we will have the same IP address as it will be at work and often log in times will be similar. Will this run the risk of me getting booted for meta gaming or do I just have to be careful not to ally with him too much if we end up in the same games? Or shall I just tell him to not join me in any games?

Hi:

Best thing would be to send a PM (Private Message) to one of the Admins or Moderators (such as me) or all of them via the PM name "HELP!", describing your situation, naming the accounts involved, and yes, not playing too many Ranked and/or No-Rank games together. You can play as many "Friends" category games together as you wish.

Of course, it goes without saying when you DO play together, please look at ALL the players in your game equally, and be willing to stab your friend in the back if the situation warrants, and you should do fine.

1. Tell the mods about the situation. This thread may suffice or they may ask that you PM them (or some subset of them).
2. Follow the rules.
a. If you play in the same games with him, do not communicate about the games outside of the in-game messaging system.
b. Don't show him any preferential treatment because you know him in real life.
3. That being said, still probably better not to play TOO many games together with him.

No problem, thanks for the advice.

To be honest I don't know the person that well and I don't think he was planning on telling me his username. If he does I will let Admin know or if i see a regular opponent crop up.

That's actually probably ideal if you don't even know who he is onsite. The mods will know (if you both log in from work) as they'll see the IPs. But they don't have to tell you since you've notified them. As long as you both agree not to discuss games (unless you somehow KNOW you're not in the same games) at the office.
