Settling of the Americas

Postby Malevolence » 26 Sep 2012, 02:29

As far as I know, no one has ever made a diplomacy board or game of any kind that reflects the settling of the americas. I personally think this would work much better in a "History of the World" format than a diplomacy board, but it would have to encompass not only the european invaders, but the numerous (or at least many of the larger) Native Nations as well as countries like Mexico/Aztecs etc etc

Neither have taken the Native population into significant enough account. Not even close.

There was also that one that Morg GMed that took place in the 1800's with settler units who could create supply centers on certain spaces.
Not saying that map had Native Americans though, but it's certainly another example of "Settling of the Americas" or most of North America at least.

Hmm... odd. I had made a map like you describe in 2009 or 2010 but looking back at my old posts and whatnot and had posted in at least two threads about it, but now it seems neither of those threads exist. Strange. I'll look for the files on my other computer and see if I still have it.

Here are a couple examples of the map I made, we went through several versions but never agreed on the end way it should be.
Every version had England, France, Spain, Portugal, the Aztecs, and the Incas, and some versions included also the Russians, Dutch, Iroquois (or some other north american native group), and Mayans.
