So this year we had 3 qualifying rounds 2 ending in 1907 and one in 1909 (after retreat phase)

For next years tourney, assuming there is appetite, I thought we could put it to a vote.

One other suggestion, keep the selection of powers anonymous for the final.
The top 7 all submit a preference list. Starting with the highest ranked player, the organiser gives each player their highest remaining preference. Once they are told which power they are, the game is opened to join as their assigned power, just like in qualifying rounds.
This way, no one knows where they are exactly in the ranking or exactly which powers are ahead of them.
