Returning player from 2007-2008

Greetings Everyone! My name is John Ried AKA EnalanDiplomat. My rating is 1104 and I am a returning player from 2007-8. I never dreamed I would take such a long hiatus from playing Diplomacy and I am grateful my Google email account remembered my Username and password. Actually I would like to ask for help as I am trying to clean the rust off of my head with using the website.

1. How do I get back into the swing of things using the website?
2. What forums, topics, or rules should I review first? Am good with the game rules but submitting orders with proper formats, contacting other players and all of the fun stuff on the website here I have to refresh myself on.
3. Finally - How may I get into a new game of simple straight up Diplomacy? Am not a fan of variants and I judge my own skills on my game performance with good, old fashioned, pure games.

Hope I am welcome here and am eager to get into a new regular game.

As a site interface learning exercise, I recommend a Mentor game
As a source of good standard games the Classicist group is great, if rather quiet recently.
For the best games on PlayDip (IMO) sign up for PDL. We often need replacements & the game quality is excellent.
All three of those have separate sections on the Forum to post messages & sign up for games.

I just returned from about 2012. You got me beat. The site has developed and looks better than ever. I imagine it is like new to you.
