Yo!

A college fan of Diplomacy! Now about the "war" books, something like:

On War by Carl von Clausewitz
The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi
The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli
The Art of War by Sun Tzu

So what else are there? Please do tell!

The Fifteen Decisive Battles of the World: from Marathon to Waterloo (1851)
by Sir Edward Creasy

It's dated (duh...) and "Euro-centric" (also duh.....) and not very detailed as to troop movements and all that, but he was writing for the general public and not the military buff.

Still a good and entertaining read.....

I am the very model of a modern Major General
With information vegetable, animal, and mineral.
I know the kings of England and can quote the fights historical
From Marathon to Waterloo in order categorical......

I recently learned that in addition to Sun Tzu's Art of War, Machiavelli also has his own book of the same name.

Yeah, I have read it. Interesting, but of Machiavelli's works, I have found The Prince to be more valuable, as far as applicability to Dip is concerned.

In addition to the books you mentioned, I have recommended:

The Strategikon, by Maurice

Strategy, by Liddell-Hart

The Secret of High Strategy, by Yamamoto Haruyuki

Book of Family Traditions on the Art of War, by Munenori Yagyu

I'm knee-deep into The Art of Wargaming by Peter Perla and enjoying it immensely. Previously enjoyed Makers of Modern Strategy from Machiavelli to the Nuclear Age edited by Paret, Craig, & Gilbert.

I also like these reading lists:

American Foreign Service Association:

U.S. Naval War College:

Tons of goodness at http://wargaming.co/

More tons of goodness and some video lectures at https://www.tabletophistory.net/library/reading-list and https://www.tabletophistory.net/videos/war-game-design
