Although been a couple of decades except for a couple of teaching games.
I am not premium, am I eligible?

No problem at all, Kra. Playing on the Forum isn't about being Premium or not. In this case it's simply about committing to playing the game out.

Elric Hazard wrote:There is a free DOS emulator version out there too - http://www.old-games.com/download/5355/kingmaker is where I got mine. The AI is amazing for the era, a few rules are tweaked for playability on the screen, the only sad thing is the parliamentary win is disabled, and AI will never call parliament. There is no "Diplomacy" aspect either.
I looked at emulators and found one but I am not sure the mix of rules I am using would work... and I added my own rule, around Ambushes, simply because I didn't think the Ambush rule was realistic or workable. The standard rule is that, when you Ambush, you always lose the battle, which means you're gambling that you would be able to kill the noble(s) you ambushed in return for losing your own noble(s) to being captured by the opponent's faction. That always made no ambush worthwhile. So I changed the rule and put in place the ambushed player being able to order a "pursuit" if he wanted.

Elric Hazard wrote:"I'll let you have free passage through my towns for two turns, if you let my ship out of your port."
"You can use my bishop to crown yourself King, but I get your 1st choice on title and offices when you call parliament."
My groups always made such contracts absolutely binding - I wonder if that would be the case here.
I have done away with the "no secret alliances" rule. Although an alliance is bound to be found out in time, I think - certainly in Forum play - a secret alliance is, again, more realistic. However, I HAVE kept the rule that any alliance agreement is never binding.

The rules I will be using for alliances are under the Combat Phase rules.

I also have interest from Antigonas, timg and cleacy, who I emailed - along with some others - from the speculative post. I haven't done a head count but I think we're heading for at least two games :)

Ah, but when it comes down to no cards left in the crown pile, you have nothing to lose - worst case you get your Noble back at end of turn.

I like your rule better though ;)

I played it several times a lot of years ago... perhaps I had a copy of the game in some forgotten box in my garage...

If it's playable on the forum I like try to play it again...
