By the timer posted by Crunkus, the voting phase has ended.
Time Since the End of the Voting Phase

  • connect4 (8) - AYE
  • crunkus (11) - AYE
  • glittle - AYE
  • numberwang1 - INACTIVE
  • pagane - AYE
  • pezgod1 - INACTIVE
  • quantum hovercraft - AYE
  • super_dipsy - INACTIVE
  • ugluk - AYE

Despite super voting on the proposal, her vote was invalidated by the time at which she posted. Specifically, the Voting Phase ended at 10:05AM (when the Adjudication Phase started) and her vote was invalidly cast at 10:54AM. Therefore, numberwang1, pezgod, and Super_Dipsy are inactive.

Connect4 receives (302-291)*(6/6) = 11 points. Thus, the Adjudication Phase for Proposal 302 ends, mutable Rule 302 is enacted with the text of Proposal 302, and the Proposal Phase for Proposal 303 begins as of this post.

glittle, it says you cast your vote at 10:23 am, that's by the same clock that my original post was at 10:05. I think you're inactive too mate.

Oh boy, here we go. By my clock, it says 9:23AM.

As it stands, unless someone calls for a judgement, the Adjudication Phase is still over and my scoreboard is validated by that fact.

I forget when time zones were invented, but I'm pretty sure it was before Nomic 5 started.

Bearing in mind that judgement has been called for...

AYE (5): crunkus, connect4, pagane, quantum hovercraft, ugluk
NAY (0):

Based on my calculations, that would be 5/5x(302-291) = 11 points to Crunkus.

This now would put Pagane on the clock for 48 hours, except that judgement has been invoked, so his time starts pending the resolution of said judgement, and assuming that glittle is found Inactive.

2/15 7:05am Crunkus proposes 302
2/17 7:05am 48 hours have passed. Voting commences.
2/17 9:08am Crunkus votes AYE
2/19 7:05am 48 hours have passed. Voting concludes.
2/19 7:23am glittle votes AYE

Assuming that rules state that proposal and voting phases last 48 hours unless explicitly altered, in my (likely unofficial) judgement, glittle is indeed inactive. Nothing personal. We play Nomic by the rules. ;)

Re: Nomic 5 - Proposal 302 "Thingagenesis" Judgment Require

Postby Pagane » 20 Feb 2014, 03:33

For clarity:
Rule 212 wrote:If players disagree about the legality of a move or the interpretation or application of a rule, then the active player preceding the player who began the turn in which the disagreement arose is to be the Judge and decide the question. Disagreement for the purposes of this rule may be created by the insistence of any player. This process is called invoking Judgment.

When Judgment has been invoked, the next player may not begin his or her turn without the consent of a majority of the other players.

The Judge's Judgment may be overruled only by a three-fourths vote of the other players taken before the next turn is begun. If a Judge's Judgment is overruled or if the judge cannot or will not rule on a particular disagreement for any reason, then the player preceding the Judge in the playing order becomes the new Judge for the question, and so on, except that no player is to be Judge during his or her own turn or during the turn of a team-mate. A judge is encouraged to voluntarily recuse himself from his duties if a possible conflict of interest would result from his judging.

Unless a Judge is overruled or he recuses himself, one Judge settles all questions arising from the game until the next turn is begun, including questions as to his or her own legitimacy and jurisdiction as Judge.

New Judges are not bound by the decisions of old Judges. New Judges may, however, settle only those questions on which the players currently disagree and that affect the completion of the turn in which Judgment was invoked. All decisions by Judges shall be in accordance with all the rules then in effect; but when the rules are silent, inconsistent, or unclear on the point at issue, then the Judge shall consider game-custom and the spirit of the game before applying other standards.

Judgement has been invoked:

I cannot begin my turn (Nor can Glittle, if he is legally active) until a majority of players has approved.
