PDVT Final Board Odds Intro

Postby Nanook » 10 Dec 2014, 05:24

First, let me answer the obvious question. Yes, I do seem to enjoy inflicting mental torture on myself, since I signed up to do another series of odds posts for a game. Now for the less obvious questions, in list format until I get tired of doing them that way.

Q: What is the PDVT, besides sounding like an exotic STD?
A: PDVT=PlayDip Versailles Tournament, or, if you're feeling witty, People DriVing Terribly*

Q; Who's in the final game?
A, in order of finish:
1. Thorntonian Empire
2. Major B
3. AlmanMEin
4. poorfool
5. Mozzarella
6. Pb10gon
7. JonS

Q: How often will these appear?
A: Whenever I feel like it, how about that? I'll do my (unpaid/volunteer) job, and you do yours 8-)

Q: Why are you so testy?
A: [Redacted]

*All complaints about bad puns or other word play gone terribly wrong can be directed to sinnybee, the wonderful tournament director who's responsible for making this tournament a reality, and therefore responsible both directly and indirectly responsible for me doing these again. Well, one of my prerequisites for working is bad word play and rambling, so deal with it.

Alright, on to the odds!

Odds to solo, by player:
Thorntonian Empire, 2/1
Major B, 4/1
AlmanMEin, 10/1
poorfool, 15/1
Mozzarella, 8/1
Pb10gon, 15/1
JonS, 8/1

As we progress, I'll offer odds on more and more things, as well as increasingly absurd bets. If you don't see odds for a bet you'd like to make, then say something and I'll happily provide them. You can bet whatever you want essentially, the sillier the better :P

Above all though, have fun! That is the point of these after all, for you to have fun while I toil endlessly and make sure you're aware of it ;)

***EDIT***
I almost forgot! Bribes are, of course, permitted and indeed encouraged.

I could explain the reasoning behind them, but then I'd have to think of it first and that smells dangerously like work

I'm just happy to be here! I'll take 8 to 1.

I bet when this tournament started, Sinny didn't know she'd still be running it in 2015. :-)

I find it interesting that all seven of us played Italy in one of our qualifying matches. Speaks to the potential imbalance of the variant, perhaps? We should get odds of victory based by country as well, independent of player. See how the two merge as the game progresses and theories of country assignments spread.

Those'll come in the first post after the game starts, after Spring or Fall 01.

Also I want odds on a Classicist champion. The club's honor is at stake! :) I believe PB and TE are the only non-Classicists in the running. 5 of 7 feels like good odds, but perhaps not when stacked against those two fine competitors.

Hard pass - seems far more stressful than playing the game!

But Playdip thanks you for your service. :-)
