what is 2/1/1, 1/1/1... 2 days, and 1 day? What then is 24 if 1 is one day? The op used both to list deadline parameters. I'm interested in the tourney but not if it takes too long.

24 = 1
I don't like saying 1/12/12 because it's inconsistent, using day/hours/hours. I use days as the unit, unless there are 12 hours for at least one deadline. There are no 12 hour deadlines in this tournament.

Most games will be 1-2 months long. Half will not make it to phase 2, so they only play the two concurrent phase 1 games. Most will not make it to phase 3, but for those who do, this tournament will probably end in about 6 months time.
_________

Socratease, with 5 games and not wanting this to go to phase 4, either phase 2 or phase 3 will have two concurrent games. So, extending time between games extends the tournament by twice the extended time. However, you're right that it would be nice to not have two concurrent games in the beginning, where extra communication is used, especially for the Star Ambassadors. I'll include this decision (day length between Game A and Game B) on the voting options soon to be PMed.

Sounds like you've thought it out well, concurrent in any or all phases is doable if the heavy-negotiation part is out of the way in Game A when it begins in Game B. Concurrent is quite necessary, I get the need for the tournament getting finished in a reasonable time.

Someone asked me the other day if I needed an assistant, and I said no, that I didn't think so. Well, I changed my mind :).
I've done plenty of work for the tournament so far and there is still plenty to do, especially for someone of my perfectionist nature.
I officially asked the person if they are interested in being Assistant Versailles Tournament Director.
If they aren't interested in the position, I'll get someone else who isn't going to be in the tournament.

EDIT: "[...]Normally, I would accept the opportunity to help, but things are in flux for me right now and for the next month or so.[...]"
I'll see if I can get someone else.

I'd be up for this if signups are still open.
