Bombings in Zhenru kill 3 and injure 14

In Zhenru, Asteria a bombing was carried out by a Buddhist temple which resulted in three deaths and fourteen injuries. The bomber was named Ibrahim Batur, Ibrahim was twenty years old and friends and family said that he was a relatively peaceful boy who had a passion for History and Islam.
Investigations however reveal that Batur was involved in a group named the Heritage Association which is a group of Muslim activists in Nirvan who believe in trying to reinstate Islam as the major religion in the region. Muslims make up less than 10% of the population of Nirvan.
Batur revealed in custody his facination with the Patriotic Front and their beliefs in identitarian states as opposed to imperial blocks. He states that he does not believe Nirvan can be saved but the Muslim Population must band together to create a new separate state. Despite Nirvan’s recent integration into Asteria the Heritage Association has existed before. Ibrahim says he was not indoctrinated by the HA because he disagrees with them in the idea that Nirvan can be reclaimed rather arguing for a separate state altogether.
Asterian authorities are investigating his connections to HA, the PF and how he managed to create the devices that left three faithful dead.

Words seem inadequate when searching for meaning in the aftermath of such events, but the PCG offers it's deepest sympathies to the families of the victims, and all the people of Nirvan and Asteria as a whole. On this sad day, we stand in solidarity with you.

The Honoured Council to the governing body, the Grand Master Teller, Arwen ap Silenus, has arranged travel to Nirvan, along with a dozen or so members of the Craft, to offer their services, skills and labour for free, in repairing any damage to the temple and other buildings, and do whatever we can to help heal some of the deep emotional and psychological wounds suffered by the local community.

All people of a book will have their faith tested at some time. It is the manner in which we respond to such tests, that proves the measure of a people and their faith.

In Peace and Plenty, For All.

President of the PCG and Member of the governing body.

The Afghan Interior Minsiter has died in a car bombing. He was a highly competent individual who was trying to clean up the corrupt ministry.

Subotai45 wrote:Jainisism, after diligent work by Baunairi and local Venusian missionaries, has become a significant faith on Venus. Roughly 40 million Venusians have converted to the faith, and the number has been slowly increasing.

The Consortium's Entinates are pleased that the faith is making inroads across Sol. Despite the historic disagreements between preceding Baunairi governments and other nations, the rise of Janisism in the great civilization of Venus heralds a new era for interplanetary progress. These ties bring with them crucial cultural and economic exchanges that will further support peace for all who pursue it.

New military reforms have been enacted between the Consortium's Entinates and the various independent nations of Mars. New provisions have been made for the integration of an additional 3.5 million mercenaries hailing from the nations of the Lestari Federation, Surata Dominion, Etsuya Republic, Royal Kurusu Company, Elipsium Entinate, and Kingdom of Urmania. These mercenaries, in addition to roughly 2 million from the Consortium itself, will be given special privileges (including citizenship) and financial resources to man bases across these countries and the Consortium for the purposes of defense and internal security. New military installations and technological advancements will be jointly maintained as these holy warriors stand as the first line of Martian defense.

The Bleeding Hills

Afghanistan is in chaos after the events of the last week. The trust in government has been sharply declining after the suspicious death of one of the few competent ministers and the release of compromising materials on many other government officials, revealing a sordid mess of scandals. Ethnic strife has also been on the rise, after unidentified operatives attacked a Tajik village, setting off a round of retaliatory killings by various ethnic militias, who demand more autonomy from the central government. One prominent Tajik leader showed up in a central square with gasoline in a match, allegedly preparing self-immolation, but he did not go through with that plan and instead hid.

The military and interior ministry have been remarkably incompetent, prompting some defenders of the state to allege that they are corrupt, and taking bribes from the separatists. Loyalist paramilitaries have begun to take matters into their own hands and fire at the separatists, engaging in what is currently light skirmishing, but could develop into brutal and bloody street-to-street fighting. Some radicals have even begun attacking government officials whose sympathies, they believe, lie elsewhere.

Afghanistan is unstable, and could devolve into full-scale civil war unless swift action is taken.

(this is a judged action, PM me if you want to be involved)

Afghanistan is devolving into ethnic conflict, it is probable that ethnic minorities will be able to officially split off without external intervention.

As much as the Consortium is saddened to see this conflict continue, as per established norms between the planets of Sol, we will not get involved in Terran affairs. However, we urge action on the part of Terra's mightiest nations to counteract the violence spreading in Afghanistan. The Consortium's Entinates also opens its door to all those in the region with the means to escape.

The Latin Empire has released the following statement: "The events occurring in Afghanistan are of no concern to the Latin Empire. We must concentrate on helping our own citizens and the denizens of South America, not those of other nations and continents. If they will kill each other, then that is their decision. It only goes to prove the superiority of a strong, secure, and centralized government like our own. With such decentralized political chaos, it's no wonder that the other nations of the world kill themselves rather than building a great nation."

The PCG seconds the call from the Entinates, for Terran nations to consider the situation in Afghanistan with utmost urgency, as reports of violence & corruption continue to emerge from the region daily, the situation appears primed for a civil war.

For those looking to flee the conflict, we offer temporary haven in South America, with a refugee centre being established outside of Cali, in Colombia (from where, further travel on to Mars and the PCG or Entinates will be made available to those seeking it).

We ask the League of Cairo to convene on the matter on the earliest opportunity. We also offer to Cairo the support and services of the Darius Initiative and our Peacekeepers, toward these efforts.

OOC: this is just an IC statement. I get that Cairo getting involved might screw-up the judging and complicate something I don't imagine needs a lot of complicating, so don't take this is an actual call for IG involvement.

It's more a continuity kind of thing, acting with internal consistency. And it never hurts to have Cairo appear slow and inneffectual
