As you gaze off into the sunlight slowly tracing an arc on the floor, the flap open and another tray is slid into the cell, identical in contents to the first.

Next time food comes, examine the plate and any utensils they might give you. Figure out what they are made of.

The ventilation apertures are approximately six inches in diameter boring through the top of the door. You can feel the air move from inside the cell to outside.

The floor seems to be a combination of cool stone and mud.

The only utensil is the small plastic bulb of surprisingly clear water held in the plastic bulb and the paper plate. The plate is made of a rough paper substance. The bulb is a clear plastic and you are momentarily amused by watching it and the water warp and magnify the view of your cell as you hold it up to your eye.

Do exactly this, but also alert the people in the cells on either side of you to do the same thing, and to pass the word along.

The jailers don’t seem too interested in you as an individual prisoner, but if all the cells catch fire, that’s all the prisoners plus possibly the building itself that’s at risk.

It takes a moment to rotate your wrist and arm into the right position, but eventually you focus the sunlight onto the dry straw.

There are faint wisps of smoke coming up from the dry straw.
