The premise of the game is that the Earth, thousands of years ago, went through an apocalypse, and new civilizations are now springing up. This means that the government, politics, culture, foreign relations, and technological progress of each individual nation is up to the sole discretion of the creator, allowing for nearly infinite possibilities. Countries have included communist dictatorships, constitutional monarchies - and a relatively tame parliamentary republic that just so happened to literally inject patriotism into its citizens.
Why now? Create Your Own Country (CYOC) has recently opened up a lot of land for new players to occupy, giving even more freedom and opportunity to new players. Now, vast sections of what was once the United States is available to start - can you restore the region to superpower status? Large portions of Eastern Europe and Russia have been cleared. Will you lead the land of the Peter the Great and Stalin to glory once more? And will you transform the ungoverned lands of East Asia, again making Japan a cultural or technological hub? Will North Korea, under your rule, continue its reputation for poverty and oppression, or it will become a beacon of freedom and democracy?
