New Planetary Colonisation Game

Postby Arcuate » 03 Feb 2016, 11:29

Hi there,

I am developing a new board game and would like to run a play-by-email version of the game before getting people to sit down and play a hard copy. The game is set on a struggling planetary colony degenerating into mayhem, with starvation threatening the population. Five factions compete for control of the planet. It is both a wargame and an economic game, with the balance up to each player.

The game has some Diplomacy-like elements, and some mechanics resemble Puerto Rico. There is also an element of chance, with cards. It is moderately complex - about as complex as Game of Thrones or Dominant Species.

Please message me if you are interested. I already have two players who are willing to play, and need three more. I would be happy to act as game master.

This is a work-in-progress, so you would need to be ready to accept some fluidity in the rules.

Happy to send a link to the rules for those who are interested.

Cheers,

Craig

EDIT: I have four players showing interest. Room for one more, maybe two if one drops out.

I should add, I have already written a digital version of the game, so play-by-email will be possible with half-decent graphics and not too much work on my part.

I may have five players now, including 2 or 3 from BoardGameGeek.

I've set up a Google Group to manage the posting of results and so on...

Please sign up if you are interested. Those who have already messaged me have first option to join, but reserves and onlookers are also welcome.

We now have five players, assuming all those people who expressed interest take the next step and join the Google Group.

Feel free to sign on as observers or backup players.

Hi people,

I still haven't been able to get this going, but I have made progress in other areas. I've set up a version of the game on Tabletop Simulator and we are about to do some live playtesting. A couple of players at PlayDipOnline expressed interest, but in the end could not commit because of time constraints.

If anyone is willing to spend about ten minutes a day submitting moves, it would be greatly appreciated. I suspect the game will be quite challenging to play well, but we are just looking for basic play at present to test the mechanics and get a sense of play balance.

Youtube demo of how the game runs (using a slightly outdated version on Tabletop simulator)...

About to start the third game of Kepler, using Slack instead of email. Rules have been tweaked with each new game.

I currently have four players, and just need a 5th to start.

An invite to the Slack group (kepler03.slack.com), with player aids and links to the rules, will be sent on request.

Cheers,

Arcuate.
