I like the keep idea as well. Not a bad addition IMO.

I really enjoyed the Keeps as well, but 1 for each "Kingdom" seems fair compared to the previous 2.

I'm thinking not for 2 reasons. The map was not originally designed for keeps and I would have to go and edit my map which I just finished.

also King's Landing as a double center makes a keep there tricky. Perhaps another version of the variant down the line?
