AAR Game #131702, The Dark is Rising (Mentor Game)

Postby AngelEyesGBU » 08 Aug 2017, 01:14

I'll kick off this AAR page here - will come back with my own input later.

ENGLAND nanooktheeskimo
FRANCE stellarWind (3way DRAW)
ITALY Atilla the Bun
GERMANY AngelEyesGBU (3way DRAW)
TURKEY Durkeety (3way DRAW)
RUSSIA Cardlinger

This was a Mentor Game hosted by Charleroi http://www.playdiplomacy.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=172239

Due to several original newer-player players dropping out, we ended up with several (four, I think?) experienced players as substitutes including myself.

I had fun :D and I hope our newer players learned from the experience.
Gold member of the Classicists
Angel Eyes: But you know the pity is when I'm paid, I always follow my job through.
Tuco: When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.
Blondie: You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

Sorry I'm late to the party! Started looking for work and was snowed under with all that and starting a new job.

So I crashed and burned in this game! Basically as it was a mentor game I (vet standby) and Turkey agreed to Juggernaut from the get-go. Unfortunately I got complacent and overreached in the North and Germany (his first game on the site but a veteran dipper who played Edi Birsan, right?), crushed me violently.

Lessons learned for vets in a mentor game! It was fun, communication was good, it was totally reasonable, and I hope the newer players to the site gained something useful from it, as I certainly did ;)
