Continental Strife 177029

Postby FloridaMan » 20 Sep 2020, 02:26

Here's my after action report on the (somewhat frustrating) game "Continental Strife" that I played here not long ago:

I look forward to any thoughts on things I could have done differently in the game (other than the obvious change of not accepting the draw, which I've recognized was a mistake on my part). ;)

England survives with Norway as his last center??? Was not expecting that. Like... who doesn't finish off a one center power...

That draw makes my head hurt. For one thing, I'm not sure I get why France proposed it, given his position. I get why you accepted, but Turkey? In my opinion, there are three reasons to ever accept a five-way-draw:

1) You are about to deploy to a combat zone or something else that will prevent you from accessing the site;
2) You have no confidence in your abilities as a Diplomacy player;
3) You have one unit and one non-home center like England in this scenario.

I really love this AAR format, Floridaman. I also enjoyed reading an AAR from a draw for a change, and a fairly unremarkable draw. You made a ho-hum game interesting and that takes some talent. Well done. I'm off to listen to your other AARs now!

I am thoroughly in agreement with this.

I would say he expected to continue the downhill movement that was apparent from the most recent seasons. His position wasn't advancing, and he had lost at least a little ground. If not for Turkey potentially turning on me, I think he'd have been panicking.

I was pretty confused about that one myself!

That made me laugh, and I can't say I disagree at all.

Thank you very much! That means a lot.
