Questions: do the airplanes move one space at a time, like armies? And do they occupy a territory just the same as regular units, and can be bounced? Thanks, and I am now in favor of airplanes. They will help nations Affect regions far away from them.

Yup, Wings otherwise act like any other unit. They can attack and support, move one space per turn, etc. They can bounce and be dislodged etc.

@Upquark

I am not clear about how the airplane units will work. What are the limitations to the movement of an airplane unit?

If I were Egypt, would I be able to send over an airplane to London in one move? Or do the airplane units move one block/province at a time. If yes, what good are they? Support only, right?

Wing Rules

1.A wing unit can move over both land and water spaces
2.A wing unit can support actions in any space adjacent to the one it occupies.
3.A wing can give, receive and cut support in the same way as armies and fleets.
4.A wing unit cannot convoy or be convoyed.
5.A wing unit cannot capture an SC, but instead blockades it:
    1.A blockade occurs when a wing unit occupies the SC of another player in a fall season.
    2.The player who owns a blockaded SC does not get to count it when counting his total number of SCs.
    3.A blockade ends as soon as the wing unit no longer occupies the SC.
    4.Builds only take place in the winter phase, just as in games without wings.

ALthough it doesn't explicitly state it, Wing units also only move one square, just like any other unit.

@Sanguenim

Thanks. I just saw an earlier post, you were talking about wing units getting dislodged. I suppose only other wings would be able to do that, right? Sorry it's rather elementary, but I'm new to the variant.

A Wing unit acts just like any other - 1 space moves, and can be dislodged by both Armies and Fleets as well as Wings.

Think of them like Amphibious Units perhaps - their bonus is they may move over water or land. They may not convoy nor be convoyed.

They have a limitation - they may NOT take control of an SC/territory. They can only occupy its space. This is called a "blockade", and although it does not gain the blockading player the SC, it does prevent the owner's use of that SC - for Build/Disband calculations (Winter) as well as for Victory considerations.

Once the Wing leaves the space, the original owner maintains control of the SC until such time as a Fleet or Army occupies it and takes custody (Fall turn). So if a plane voluntarily leaves a blockade, the blockade ceases and the original owner of that SC can now utilize it in Winter for build/disband calculation, as well as it once again counts towards his victory.

So in theory, I could blockade an 18 centre power (or whatever) from achieving a solo by blocking them :evil:
