I've enjoyed playing mafia on PlayDip but many times I find that my participation level is rather lacking during the week due to time commitments. I often see others posting in thread "sorry, had classes/work all day and just sat down to read - will catch up".

I was wondering if people would be interested in a mafia game where all the forum discussion happens on weekends. I.e. Days are fixed to start Friday mid-day-ish and end Sunday evening, and Nights are fixed to go from Sunday evening to Friday. Might need to think a bit about exact start end times to include the GMT+2ish to GMT-8ish timezones that are predominant on this site, but the general idea is to have the day end be before midnight Sunday for everyone. If they start a little before the weekend for the GMT-8 folks that's okay, since early hours of the Day are less important than later hours of the day.

Thoughts?

Oh yes, plan would be for a simple mafia setup, 7:2, 1 doc and/or 1 cop.

Maybe more elaborate/theme-based games later if people like the day/night setup.

assuming the translation of time zones would work for me (EST), I might even be able to hop in.

(Possible suggestion: perhaps having say, a Friday-Saturday-Sunday-Monday day (so that all time zones get their full/fair share of "weekend'), and a 3-day night, might help deal with the time-zone concerns? :D)

I think it's important that it end by Sunday Midnight for all participating time-zones since the "end of day" time can be very important, and I don't want people missing the end of day because for them it's very early Monday morning and they need to be sleeping in preparation for the start of the school/work week.

Less important, in my mind, is to start after the start of the weekend, since "beginning of day" can be less important... for West Coast USA people who don't get off work/school until 2300 or so GMT, it will be okay if they don't start contributing until later in the day.

So maybe we start at 0001 GMT on Friday morning and end at 2000 GMT Sunday night? We could start even earlier (like 1700 GMT Thursday) if people think that "Thursday night is the start of the weekend" :)

What do other people think?
