Modern Extended Diplomacy - Design Thread

This is the place for games which are currently being created and developed, and where the designer is listening to feedback from other players. The game is not ready to play, and the designers are not looking for sign-ups - indeed, they may have no intention of GMing the game themselves when it is finished. But your input is welcome!

Is this game fully subscribed? If not, how many players are signed up and when will it start? (I'm being lazy and not reading through all the thread :))

Cheers. Yeah, I was staring at the map a lot and didn't think it too fair that the supply centre was placed as it was. While other countries have similar situations (Switzeland, Belarus) they at least have the benefit of other nearby neighbours to negotiate with regarding those centres. Egypt and E. Africa don't have that same benefit with Sudan.

I appreciate the interest! I'm aiming to run it in September. I haven't actually started a recruitment thread yet (this is the design thread) but I'm noting interested players and reserving spots. There's about 5 so far and I'll add your name to the list! I'll post a proper recruitment thread next week or so.

New map is looking great, joe92.

Any thoughts on making the rivers a little easier to visualize? I know I still have trouble reading them.

Joe92,

I would very much like to join in any new ModEX game. If you will have me hopefully I can finish out the game and stay out of the hospital.

Thanks. The rivers are a difficult aspect of this. I've tried out a few unsuccessful ways to make them easier to visualise, but each time I make the territories harder to visualise. Given that the territories are more important, especially for the start of the game, I've reversed each attempt. For now I'm going to run another version of this game without further tweaks to the rivers and hopefully a fix will come to fruition during that game. I've got one idea in the back of my mind which is to make the rivers much wider, so that the labels for each segment can fit within the river itself as black text, but I just haven't got round to trying it out yet.

So do rivers start and end when the black bits of the territories cover the ends of the rivers?

Update: I have changed Egypt's starting units. Egypt now starts with an army in Alexandria instead of a fleet.

Yes.

And for full clarification: LRH, URH and Mai have an end point at the intersection of Als/Bad/Ruh. UHR and Rho join at the intersection of Als/Lyo/Sui. Mai and UDb join at the intersection of Aus/Cze/Mun. And, UDb and LDb join at the intersection of Hun/Rum/Ser.
