I had hoped sinnybee would be back by now, but still no sign of her.

It would be a pity to let this enthusiasm disappear. I'd offer to take over as Tournament Director apart from what I see as the huge problem of drop-outs. I checked with rick.leeds who tells me that in his tournaments a replacement player takes over the position of the original one - that is starts with his/her record and tournament points. That seems to me potentially to be seriously unfair. On the other hand if the replacement starts from zero it skews the tournament considerably.

Nowif we were talking a Team Tournament...!

I still want to get to this ASAP... but I don't know when that is... :( SORRY! My life has been a mess.
I would say that I hope to get to this this week, but I don't want to say anything until it's happening. The bottom line is that I haven't forgotten about you guys and that I don't like to let anyone down.

One advantage of this tournamemnt, with which to avoid drop-outs, is that there are only 3 rounds. Round 1 is 25 players playing 2 simultaneous games (3/2/2 deadlines), Round 2 is the same, but with 15 players, and Round 3 is a single final game with 5 players.

What do you mean a team tournament?
Instead of 25 players and 5 reserves, we have 15 teams of 2 players each? Each player has 1 game in round 1, with each team having 2 games in round 1, and team-mates can advise each other on what to do? These would certainly be unranked games.
If someone drops out, the team-mate would take over their partner's game.

I don't think I want to do that (not saying you were suggesting what I was), but I'm just thinking out loud.

sinnybee - GREAT to see you back.

Ignore my post - if I'd known you were around I'd have stayed out of it.

When sinnybee recovers from hibernation!

Except that my guess is that then half of the players who signed up will have fogotten about it and got lost!

I renewed my premium too, even though I'm not around :).

I'll have time in a couple of months, when I'm in the tax office while it's not real busy.

I'll get this started probably during the last week of February.
Prior to that, I'll see who still wants to and is available to play and fill in whatever spots we lose.

Please feel free to post if you're interested.
