Crusades Variant!

Postby Aeschines » 04 Jun 2009, 23:54

Hello, so i'm interested in Gming the Kingdoms of Outremer Variant and wanted to know if anyone would be interested in playing :) . Its from Deanchuks variant bank.

The rules follow the original diplomacy game except for one important, and exciting new thing. Now every country during the Winter gains a certain quantity of prestige. Prestige represents the reputation of a country and it allows for certain new elements. Namely: Bribing neutral and enemy units, inciting provinces to rebel, securing loyalty, creating new home centers, and vassalizing neutral countries.

Each country gains prestige based on the number of supply centers they have, the largest country/countries get 3p, the next biggest three countries get 2p, and all the rest get 1p. Also, for forcing the disbandment of a unit you gain 1p and for having a unit forcibly disbanded you lsoe 1p. For each type of prestige-order more than one country can attempt to "bid" for the action, and the person willing to spend the most prestige succeeds (all others lose their attempted prestige).

The new orders are as follows:
BRIBE: If you are the highest bidder (in terms of prestige) then the army follows the command you give it (anything but movement). It has a minimum bid of 1p for a neutral unit and for enemy units *enemies starting prestige for that year+1p.*

VASSAL: For 1 year the army/navy from a specific neutral supply center acts as yours (but it cannot move farther than one space away from its home). It has a minimum bid of 2p.

SIEZE FIEF: Turns 1 captured non-home supply center into a home supply center (until it is captured by another country), cannot be used on others home supply centers so long as they have armies on the board. Cost 2p.

REBEL: Causes 1 non-home enemy SC to become a neutral power (along with any unit within it). Minimum bid *Enemies starting prestige for that year+2p.*

SECURE LOYALTY: Keeps your units loyal. Raises the minimum bid of bribing your units or causing rebellion by 1p for every 1p spent.

LEND: Gives prestige to another country. For the year.
Prestige bids can also be pooled by different nations for a specific action.

Prestige disappears in each winter and is recalculated then as well. It can be spent during the spring and fall orders. :D
Yay! You can look at more complete rules at http://www.variantbank.org/results/rules/o/outremer.htm

So basically, it is the Moolah variant, but with a different map?

I'm pretty sure I could be available for this game. Is it still a possibility?
