The Variant Bank lives, but underground!

We've all been saying for ages that the Variant Bank was broken - bad news for more than WitA. I've just discovered that it's only the links to/from the index that are broken, and the original map and rules are at http://www.variantbank.org/results/rule ... ericas.htm

Haven't tried any other games but there must be some chance that modifying that URL will deliver other games you might want to check out!

If you try to search for a variant then all the links are broken. The articles page is fine - haven't checked the others. Type the URL "http://www.variantbank.org/results/rules/{first letter of variant name eg S}/{name eg Seismic}.htm then that works. Though you may need to experiment to get the name in the form they've used.

The bank at DipWiki (http://www.dipwiki.com/index.php?title=Variants) is much less extensive but better where it includes the variant - it's possible to upload material yourself, whether new variants or comments on existing ones (Baron Von Powell, designer of 1900, complains that he can't get VB to update his rules for 1900.)
