A couple of ideas for forum games

Postby TheChosen1 » 06 Mar 2009, 12:04

All I did is searched at google "Diplomacy Variants" went to images, and there I found alot of maps that we can change a bit, make it more ccomfotable and we have alot of new forum games.

America Diplomacy:
http://www.variantbank.org/results/rule ... ericas.gif
The quality isnt so good but we can make it better

North America Diplomacy
http://devel.diplom.org/Online/variants ... pire4a.gif
This map looks really fun

Another Version of Europe:
http://www.southembassy.com/Map_ModernAbbr.gif
Looks very fun to play

Japan Diplomacy:
http://www.geocities.com/nairenvorbeck/ ... kuRev5.PNG
I was shocked to see that map, the qualityisn't so well but we can change it again.

UK Diplomacy:
http://www.diplom.org/Zine/F1996M/Bache ... chy-cl.gif
What can I say?

Italy Diplomacy:
http://medlem.spray.se/machsite/Machiav ... 2.cmap.gif
That map looks fine

Greece/Turkey Diplomacy
http://www.geocities.com/lemelopes/cons ... -large.gif
...

Asia Diplomacy
http://www.variantbank.org/results/rules/c/canton1.gif
The map looks fine

There were a couple of more maps there, but I didnt put them here.
Some Variants here looks really really fun.
I am not that good at all those parts of changing the map and making the quality better so if someone can do that I would be very happy.
What do you say?

Here you can find many more variants: http://www.variantbank.org/

But beware: not all of those variants have been playtested well...

Some are for sale as a board game. If I'm not mistaken, your asian variant is called Colonial Diplomacy.

While it's fun to play variants, I am actually making a few of my own 8-)
~ In an informal or social sense, diplomacy is the employment of tact to gain strategic advantage or to find mutually acceptable solutions to a common challenge in a non-confrontational, or polite manner.

Nope, that's not Colonial Diplomacy (where Britain starts with 6 units, and Russia has the Trans-Siberian Railroad). Colonial would also be a good candidate for a forum game, BTW.

The third one you mentioned, which you said was another version of Europe, is actually called Modern. I was planning on GM'ing a game of that pretty soon here, I'm waiting for my schedule to clear up a bit to allow it though. Should be within a week or so... Depending on how that experience goes, I might be willing to GM one more, either the UK map (which I think looks really cool) or one of the Americas ones.

I'd also like to say that if any of the above 3 mentioned (UK, N. America, or Americas) were started, I would definitely play. ;-) Just saying...

I'm in for the UK one if it goes ahead, it would be nice to play on the home turf. Seeing my country in total war; places I've been to torn apart by conflict.
Do you have rules with it? Which SCs start with Armies and which start with Fleets for example?
