Just learned this lesson again in a game I'm currently playing. When I saw the board after the orders went through I assumed it had happened in a particular way, but when I read through them a little later I found that the result had occurred in a manner very different than I originally thought. What happens on the board is very important, but how it happened is almost as important.

I agree.I do read the orders but must have missed it. i wonder though if the way a fleet is shown in Southern Spain could be made clearer. I find it visually confusing in the map.

You may find the hover option helpful. If you got to your My Account page, you will see this checkbox

Game Display Options: Show territory / unit ownership details on hover

If you check this, then whenever you are in a game, if you hover over a territory it shows you
a) who owns it
b) who is in it (what units, which country)
c) If there is a retreat, it identifies both the conquering unit/country, and the retreating unit/country

Personally, I always play with hover on and I know a lot of other people do too. Although it was originally introduced for people who are colour blind or find it difficult to distinguish between the colours, I find it extremely helpful particularly for territories where the unit position may look a bit misleading.

Thank you. I will switch the hover option on. I'm just thinking though that if I made this mistake, which was a visual one, I expect others do too. Would it be hard to change the way the board looks so its clear the fleet is in Spain South coast and not poking out into Western Med?
