News
The guerilla fighting in many countries such as Lucca, Ferrarra, Genoa and Asti has finally come to an end, all invading forces have won and the occupied territories have finally agreed to join their conquerors for a better future, Savoy has decided that this is an act of WAR.
Citizens of Turin have come to the conclusion that they would rather be in Milan than Savoy, in the hope that their new leaders might grant them better protection from outsiders.
Reports from Milan state that the citizens of Genoa cried out for help from the green bannered nation. Milan sent troops to aid their guerilla forces, but the fortifications and naval support from the savoy fleets in the area were too strong, forcing the Milan troops to sulk back in defeat.
Naples has convinced the cities of messina, siracusa and otranto to peacefully join their nation through generous gifts and trading offers.
The neutral city of Siena came under fire recently by Papal forces out of viterbo. The city held out for two weeks under the siege but was eventually lost and the civilians of the area were forced to accept the hostile rule. A similar situation occurred in Sassari, but the weak naval forces of the small town were overtaken within a day. Of course, the papal commanders all claimed their victories were part of God's divine plan.
Venetian forces aimed their cannons at the city of Trieste today, which surrendered after its town hall had been obliterated by the hostile nation. Later it was revealed that Trieste had no military to defend itself to begin with and the annihilation was unnecessary. Nevertheless, the city was willing to support their attackers in the hope that no more destruction would come to them.
Florence captured a small town to its west amongst the oceans known to locals as Sassari, reports are that the citizens came without a fight and were glad to join their new banner.

Other news,
The Ottoman Empire, which has gained much strength recently to the east, in what many Italians call "the darkened zone", has sent an official message to all nations that it will stay out of Italian affairs until the area is finally united under one rule.

France has issued a similar order.

aww, you made Venice look bad

oh yeah, unlike the French and the Turks, the Holy Roman Empire is going to send its awesome armies to support Venice in its domination of Italy

The Holy Roman Empire wasn't a united state. You could think of it, vaguely, as the EU of the middle ages, at a stretch.

If the Holy Roman Emperor even thinks of meddeling in the internal affairs of Italy he will be ex-communicated and all of the true faith will be happy to deprive him of his lands.

At some points in history, the Duchy of Milan was part of the Holy Roman Empire... most of Northern Italy was. Venice, notably, was not.
