Which three?

Y'all have eaten these super-strange meats, but I wasn't expecting durian to be a common miss. Durian is an absolutely hilarious fruit that looks and smells like it wants to kill you.

I have a friend who has some specific genetic thing where durian smells like the most delicious mango vanilla pudding imaginable.

Durian's weird - I think it smells like propane gone bad... but it actually tastes good to me. On the other hand, about half of the people who try it hate it with a passion.

All role PMs have been sent and we are now in N0!

No more publicly discussing the game, but if this is the latest cooking thread you can keep talking about food.

This reminds me.

I have recently been given a slow/pressure cooker thing.

I'm embarrassingly inexperienced at cooking most things.

What should I do with this thing? I've seen people using them and have heard they are pretty damn easy to do pretty decent stuff with.

Kim's right, but I would also add stock. Is there anything you ever cook where you buy boxed or canned chicken stock from the store? Because if you make stock at home, it's just a revelation. It's completely different, and insanely delicious.

Cider-braised turkey legs
4-cheese baked cavatappi
Roasted Brussels sprouts
Smashed potatoes
Dutch crumb apple pie

We vibe so hard. Cider-braising is my favorite preparation of turkey leg. I add honey mustard. Give it a shot?

Duck fat fried smashed fingerling potatoes were a Thanksgiving mainstay of mine until I groked a roasted potatoes recipe that was even better.

I only got 10 here, but let me tell you that we Filipinos have a wonderful recipe for Tofu, and frogs actually taste nice.

Also, why is Spam here?

Why would you even ask permission? I demand weird food.

So

Allow me to present weird Filipino food, starting with this thing we Filipinos call "balut", or for lack of a better term, it could be called "aborted duck eggs".
And this thing called "dinuguan", which is basically pork with cooked pig's blood as soup.
And this thing called Soup. No 5, which is made of a bull's sex organs.

And here's even more weird Filipino food customs!

Wait till you see Banana Ketchup

I lied. I've heard of balut and all of these are way outside my coddled American palate comfort zone.

Well Filipinos have wonderful cuisine but there are just some foods that even I dont feel comfortable eating.

Dinuguan is actually great though!

Adobo is one of my favorite things to eat, so whatever weird stuff you got goin' on, there's a lot to love.

The idea of the Pizza Belt is more about average quality than absolute quality. Like when I lived in Seattle, Pagliacci's had very good pizza, but that was it. Your chances of just going to a random place and getting anything halfway decent were extremely low. And Pagliacci's made you pay up for quality that would just be assumed from any greasy dollar slice joint in the Pizza Belt.

Sure, not arguing the point. Just saying there is a stretch along the gulf coast in Florida where that standard applies.

Also mention of pagliacci makes me think of a CT restaurant by the same name, used to be absolutely incredible. First time I’ve missed CT since...probably the last time I thought of Pagliacci’s lolol
