TWO Mentor Games for July 23rd - One filled, one Cancelled

If you are new to the site, and especially if you are new to the game, this might be a good way to start some games. Mentors will help with the mechanics of the game.

TWO Mentor Games for July 23rd - One filled, one Cancelled

Postby Zaynation » 17 Jul 2018, 15:52

Mentor games are for beginners to play together and learn the basics of Diplomacy and how the website interface works with an experienced player available to answer questions. Any player that thinks they might benefit from a teaching game is welcome:

Looking to play your first game?
Have played before, but it was some time ago and feel rusty?
New to PlayDip and want to get used to the interface?
Been on site for awhile and would like some pointers?
All are welcome. I ask only that you commit to seeing the game through to completion, because leaving a game partway through disrupts the experience for all of the remaining players. (The duration of Diplomacy games can vary substantially, but you can figure on the game continuing for about 2 months if you do well.) Should unforeseen life circumstances mean you need to quit, please let me know so that I can line up a replacement rather than abandoning the game without notice.

If you are interested in playing, either reply in this thread or use the site PM system to contact me. These games are slated to begin on 23rd of July, but we will start whenever we get a full roster. If you sign up this week but do not get a spot, you will be given priority in the next mentor game.

Information on our current mentor game below:

Status: Signups

Game No.: 146738
Game Name: Fancybat
Deadlines: 2/1/1 (movement/retreats/builds, in days)

Game No.: 146739
Game Name: Empowered
Deadlines: 2/1/1 (movement/retreats/builds, in days)

Your mentor will be: Zaynation

******

Edit: Due to slow sign-ups for the second game, it has been automatically taken down. The mentors will try to have a new game up soon. Sorry.

Are we allowed to ask for tips on other Diplomacy games we’re playing, or only the mentor games?

You can ask for general advice, and we'll give general answers. Specific advice in either will be pretty limited.

:)
Good question. I was wondering myself, too.

It's another way to enter orders for your units. People on phones and mobile devices can find it easier for their fingers.
The ordinary way that most people enter orders is just by clicking on a province...point-and-click. :)
