convoying rules question

On another site, I am playing my first game, as Italy. I wanted to take Tunisa by convoy from Apulia via the Ionian. The interface gave me the option, but it was then rejected on the next turn. What happened?

Hard to tell from the cropped pic, but I take it you wouldn't be asking if you'd obviously been bounced. So best guess you fluffed the fleet's convoy order?

EDIT: confirmed.
Italy:
Diplomacy
The army at Venice hold.
The fleet at Ionian Sea hold.
The army at Apulia move to Tunis via convoy. (fail)

You needed to input a convoy order for the fleet (F ION C Apu-Tun, or similar format). This would have been treated as a hold order by the ION fleet for the purposes of defending the ION from other players (not that that was an issue in this case). E.g. a convoying fleet can be supported to hold. But for the convoying of an army from A to B to succeed, every fleet in the chain has to be instructed to convoy Apu-Tun.

Lol, people from other sites come to playdip to have their questions answered. Clearly we're the best.

Come play over here - convoys are much more likely to succeed here :)

Bromley86: thanks!
StarWatcher009 and WarSmith: Yes, the interface at the other site is unclear. I might migrate.

It's great over here. The sun shines bright and everyone is nice and firendly.

Yes, people apologize after having stabbed you.

Yes, people apologize after having stabbed you.

And then happily stab you again and again...
