You may also wish to PM vlammes or sroca. Both of them have the ability to set up a subforum as well (I think).

*Corrected Sri Vijayan orders and map*

All moves succeed, which will probably be the last time I can say that for a while. Unfortunately the subforum here is still not set up, so I am putting the adjudication on this announcement thread for now, to get it out there.

If any of you observers want to be included, or excluded, from the emails, let me know.

Deadline for Fall 901 is Wednesday 27 January 2010, 8:00 p.m. New York Time.

Re: Known World 901 Playtest

Postby David E. Cohen » 31 Jan 2010, 22:41

Due to RL considerations, our Emperor of China, Aardvark Army, must bow out. He is able to play on until a replacement steps forward. I will give the
replacement ample time to get acquainted with the other players and negotiate, and in addition, we have a player away, so preliminarily, I am extending the deadline for Spring 902 to Tuesday, 9 February 2010, 8:00 p.m. New York Time. First shot as a replacement Tang Emperor will go to our Observers.

For your reading pleasure, I will be giving you some general instructions and maxims from Maurice's Strategikon:

It is essential to be cautious and take your time in making plans, and once you come to a decision to carry it our right away without any hesitation or timidity.

It is well to hurt the enemy by deceit, by raids, or by hunger, and never be enticed into a pitched battle, which is a demonstration more of luck than of bravery.

From Sri Vijaya:

All bound for Mu Mu Land
All bound for Mu Mu Land

We're Justified, and we're Ancient,
And we'd like to roam the land.
We're Justified, and we're Ancient,
I hope you understand.
We called China up in Jengxi
We said "Stuart, the convoy will land"
And if you don't like what we're going to do,
You better not stop us 'cause we're coming through

We're justified and we're ancient
Our fleets are Ice Cream Vans
We're justified and we're ancient
And our maps are out of date

The seas are our domain,
Doing better than the Dane,
Our dots will wax and wane,
But we're all bound for Mu Mu land

Still no dedicated forum, so here it is.

First, apologies for the delays. Now, on to business. I am afraid RL has claimed another Power. Deanchuk, playing Wagadu, must bow out, but has stated he will continue playing until a replacement steps forward, so the game will not be delayed, if a replacement is not quickly forthcoming. First shot to the Observers, then I throw it open to anyone.

No retreats, but considering the likelihood of a replacement, deadline for Fall 902 will be pushed to Saturday, 20 February 2010, Noon New York Time.

From Maurice's Strategikon:

A healthy mind is not unduly elated by success nor overly depressed when things are not going well.

Only those battle plans are successful which the enemy does not suspect before we put them into action.

From Egypt:

With Caliph Nick al-Tulunid away wooing a potential new queen for the caliphate, and no work to do at the embassy given a lack of foreign diplomats, court scribe Kasim in the capital of al-Qatta'i found himself with little to do. Given this free time, he worked on a personal project involving the performance of NFL (American football) QBs in comeback situations. To bring greater glory to the Tulunid Emirate, he wrote under a pen name, using the full name of the Caliph, Nicholas Higgins. The original article was published on a football analysis site called Football Outsiders, and then was quoted in the Wall Street Journal (see the links below, if interested!).
