Classicists League Table

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0Aq9XmWCjP5pfdC16T3VNaldVRnB2TllmQXRia2htN1E&hl=en&single=true&gid=2&output=html

Anyone can access it, can someone check that I'm the only one who can edit it? I've either set it so that nobody else can or so that everybody can, I'm not entirely sure.

Anyway, we haven't had any completed games yet as far as I can tell, so for now nobody has a ratio. But that list has all the members as of 24/10/10. I'll update the memberlist as we grow (or if we unfortunately shrink).

The Excel file is viewable, saveable, and printable but cannot be edited. All of the editing features have been inactivated.

you have to send a request to the owner to share the document.

I've done that so it maybe will be possible to edit then

No - the idea is not to let anyone else edit. Otherwise there might be confusion about whether game points have been added yet. We don't want everyone who finishes a game to instantly write it down in case multiple people add points to each other for the same game.

Awesome work with the League Table Mapmaker.

I have a couple of idea's that I'd like to throw out there for debate, (or implementation if agreed upon).

I have a irrational fear of #DIV/0!. don't know why just irks me for some reason.

So my suggestion are;

Instead of Win:Loss ratio, can it be Win:Played? Instead of Solo:non-solo ratio, can it be Solo:Win?

This won't stop the Div by 0 for all situations by itself, however if you use these two formulas you'll be rocking in the free world!

Win:Played =IF(ISERROR(SUM(C2:I2)/B2),0,SUM(C2:I2)/B2)
Solo:Win =IF(ISERROR(C2/SUM(C2:I2)),0,C2/SUM(C2:I2))

If I'm being too anal let me know by telling me where to shove my suggestion ;-)

Thanks a lot, I hate all those errors too but I don't exactly have the expertise to change them myself.

I've added the code you suggested, and changed it to win % and solo % because it looks neater and may be easier for people to understand.

WHat about adding a total points category?

And going off of that, what about rearranging the names so it's in a "most points scored" order?

Well, how would we calculate the total points? Perhaps this would be an opportunity to try out a different sort of point system?

Yeah, a total points idea might be nice - but we'd have to have our own system. I was going with just the win % and solo % for now because they give you a pretty good idea, but if you want a point system I'm sure we can do that. Any suggestions?

Also, InterMPC - who clearly knows a lot more than me about spreadsheets - has offered to do some of the coding. I'm going to give him editorial access so that he can update it with any new features. If you have technical or layout issues, direct them at him, but any problems with updating the actual values will be my fault.
