With a stab stab here,
And a stab stab there,
Here a stab, there a stab,
Everywhere a stab stab.
Old MacDonald had a farm,
E-I-E-I-O.

A slow Classicist game.

Having played 2 long games with Classicists, and having enjoyed the relaxed pace (but intense diplomacy!), I was thinking about starting another one sometime mid-April (in about a week or so) for a nice, slow game over the summer. Would there be any interest in something like:

Standard map (or possibly Milan variant?)
5/2/2 (no weekends) or 7/2/2
DIAS
Normal players, or anonymous countries
Random selection

Or feel free to suggest other options

My name doesn't carry the same weight as WHS, JonS, or gareth66 so I'll understand if there's not as much love ;)

Funny enough, I came here to start a thread for a 5/1/1 game. I've come to realize that my life doesn't work well with trying to play 2/1/1 or 3/1/1 games. As such, I'm in for a 5/2/2 (no weekends) or 7/2/2.

Here are my votes for the game settings:

Standard map (or possibly Milan variant?) = I'd prefer standard map, but Milan isn't a deal breaker.
5/2/2 (no weekends) or 7/2/2 = Good for either.
DIAS = Yep
Normal players, or anonymous countries = Prefer anonymous, but either is good.
Random selection = Yep

Hopefully this game gets up and running!

MasterSifu,

I would love another long game with you and highly recommend this one to any Classicist. Long games are the best games, but they do require players with an attention span rather than OCD.

Unfortunately, I am not in position to take on a game right now. Have fun with this one.

I would be happy to join. I'm going to generally dial back my Playdip games significantly over the summer with the baby coming in June - this could be a nice leisurely way to stay involved.

My votes would be:
Standard map. or maybe fleet rome? But standard fine.
7/2/2 or 5/2/2 no weekends both fine. Maybe do 7/2/2 so that we don't have a four day retreat phase and longer time always baked into the spring/fall orders? But fine either way.
Players known. I'm generally anti-anonymous. Probably not a dealbreaker though if anyone has strong feelings.
DIAS
Either random countries OR preferences. Could be fun to give people the ability to try a desired country...but random assignments totally fine.
No preference on rank/norank. Maybe rank though? If we're going to spend months on it, might as well have the carrot of two points for a draw out there...

Anyway - sign me up!

I feel very over committed especially due to having a few Forum games but the pace of this appeals to me.

Standard map.
5/2/2 (no weekends) or 7/2/2 = Good for either.
DIAS
Normal players, or anonymous countries = Prefer anonymous, but either is good.
Random selection = OK though I would not mind preferences.
I would be very happy with unranked but am OK with ranked if this is the majority preference.

It has recently come to my attention that I am interested in joining this game. :D

Actually, I would love to join this happy throng. I just ask that we don't let the long deadlines kill good comms. I don't want to lost the Star in my Ambassador. :)

Sifu - PB10gon is interested as well. So with him we may be about there! I think that puts us at six or seven?

I am in.
I will ask the wife next. She is amazed that I have given this up. Said it wouldn't last. Much as I hate her being right whilst I am wrong.... It's only one game. It doesn't need me to be there five times a day. I can still get some work done. There you go. Sold.

My preference is random countries, known players, ranked.

I would like to play if you still need people.
I cant play Premium options, but don't let that stop you from playing the game with them.

I think glacialice makes seven! I don't think anything we've discussed is premium...
