In review:
-Check out the rules here. Any questions, ask me.

-This is the map we are using.

-Orders are to be submitted to me via PM before the posted deadline. (I'll make it clear when each new deadline is after each phase.) Clearly label your orders as "Russia - Spring 1901 Orders" or some variation thereof. Your orders likewise should be crystal clear what you mean, though I don't care how exactly you write them. You can use full place names or abbreviations, it doesn't matter as long as I can't mistake your meaning. Make sure to proofread! I'm not going to ask for clarification - I often don't even read the orders till I'm updating, so by then it'd be too late anyway.

-Sending in preliminary orders is always a good thing! NMRs ruin games, and there's nothing wrong with revising your orders a billion times (I'll only use the most recently received set.) Send in initial orders to make sure I at least have something, and then you can always change them after diplomacizing. Let's just avoid NMRs, shall we? Oh, and please make sure to send all your orders even if you only change one - I'm only going by the most recent set, so I don't want to have to hunt down past messages to figure out what exactly is being changed and what isn't.

-Regular deadlines will be 48/24/24. As said, I'll make deadlines clear after each new update. Generally, though, they'll be around 10 pm Pacific Time (1 AM Eastern US, 5 AM Britain, if I have my time zone calculations correct.) If I'm late with updates, I'll adjust deadlines accordingly. If these deadlines suck for you, tough - I'm the GM, you go by my schedule.

-The deadline for the first round, and subsequent round or two, will be extended to allow for more time for diplomacy. (It can be crazy, trust me.) 72 hours or something, maybe. I'll figure it out as I go. The first round will be about 3 1/2 days, though.

-New to World Dip? Intimidated by the size of the map? Not sure where to start? Check out the Strategy subforum! Waterice man and myself have put up a couple strategy articles to get you started.

You can begin negotiating with your neighbours immediately. (The easiest way would be over PM, but there's no rule against using IM or IRC or email, etc. And as a suggestion, make sure to include your country name in each message, so everyone can keep track of who is who.)

Your first deadline -
Phase: Spring 1901 Orders
Orders due: Saturday, Aug 15 9:59 PM PST / Sunday Aug 16 12:59 AM EST / 4:59 GMT

---

Good luck guys. Game on. :)

Ah, so the fight has finally begun.

Good luck everyone, and may you all have luck in your quests for GLOBAL (for once it isn't just Europe) domination.

I think the best part of the country assignments - which I assure you were totally random, just names pulled from a hat - was how Grumpy, DK, and Ray are all neighbours again, albeit in a different way. Should make for some fun battles in the Atlantic. :)

EDIT: If anyone is confused as to why those three being neighbours is interesting, just check out their past history in World Dip 1. Or rather, let me sum it up for you - Ray stabbed the hell out of his allies, DK and Grumpy, and it was hilarious to watch their reactions. ;)
