I'd be willing to give it a shot if you're still looking for people...

I would totally join. Epic game of diplomacy. Public Post would seem very hard though, unless we made a topic for it. PM their forum account for the private messages too maybe?

Epic is right. We have 9 potential players right now, here's the list:

Grumpy, Spitfire, Dar Krum, Tommy4ever (tentatively), Diplomat (tentatively), Master Radishes, Yorkshireman, RadioactiveSushi, CowInAPie

I really think we should have all 17 players even if it takes a while to recruit. Of course, not everyone will make it to the mid-game. But I think a surrendered power does significantly change strategy and should be avoided. So if you're reading this and are interested, respond to sign up!

The final map with starting positions is on my webspace:

http://www.stanford.edu/~toddl/dip/ choose the one called start

Everyone has an easy neutral and two or more neighbors. Not all countries are equal, but it looks like everyone has a shot. There are slight asymmetries, but nothing good diplomacy can't overcome. I crunched some numbers and it is fairly equal to the standard board. MAYBE a slight tendency to fight your neighbor earlier (less neutrals) and fleets in the midgame (more centers capturable by fleets). The game could turn out totally different though =)

Very interesting indeed. Nice job and change my tentative to Definite.

I might be able to convince a friend to join but he will almost definately miss on turn and is un sure about the abbility to remake your orders.

Also I am not tentative although I too may miss an order or two unless I can get to the internet on holiday.

So to be clear, you would GM the game. We would submit orders to you via personal message here on the board and communicate with all players involved in the same way. You would post updates after each term here, or on a new separate thread and post a link to an updated map. The thread would also serve as a 'shoutbox' like in regular games. Terms would tentatively be 48hrs. Is that correct?

Seventeen players, the map is pretty intense. If this gets going, I'm certain you'll regret GMing because it could be pretty fun.

Has anyone actually played this variant before? Or know of someone who has?

Any chance I can get in on the action?

Or, y'know, any mode of communication we wish to employ. Email, PMs, discussion during other games; hell, anyone have AIM or MSN?
