Fake NMRs?

Postby Aurelia1 » 08 Aug 2018, 23:34

Sometimes I see that someone has ordered everything to hold, and I wonder if they really NMRed. Is it possible to order everything to hold so it looks like you NMRed so that people underestimate you? Would ordering everything to hold count as an NMR?

"Is it possible to order everything to hold so it looks like you NMRed so that people underestimate you?'

I think it is possible, as it's impossible to check it in Order History

A reasonably common ruse of war, that is not an NMR. I’ve seen it work well.
PS Don’t try it in a “protected” game. It’s a bit see through :D

Everything holds automatically, so you only need to enter one hold order, which does not count as an NMR.
I do it all the time, so that if I for some reason don't get time to get back to the game, I don't get an NMR.

It's a tactic that has always intrigued me, but I can't remember if I have ever actually gotten around to using it. I've thought about it for a while, though, and I think it would be a very interesting move to pull.

Pulled it once to good effect but of course after the first time (protected) or consecutive time (non-protected) it gets seen through if you've not been ejected from the game.

I did it one, and got asked if I was drunk. I think I was actually, but that's beside the point.

Can be useful to see what everybody else will do, as long as your own position is secure. Also, if you keep radio silent, it can lead others to make a fatal mistake, assuming you will nmr a second time.

I try to keep it to once a day. Gotta show some restraint.
