Ancient Med winning SC number

Postby Jstrange » 12 Jul 2020, 22:45

Math was never my strength, so maybe I’m needlessly stumped by this basic issue of arithmetic. I read on the Ancient Med rules page that 18 centers are needed for a win, as that is a basic majority. However, by my count (remember I’m bad at math, so...) there are a total of 33 SCs in ancient med. Thus, a basic majority would be 17. So, I figure three possibilities:
1. I’m counting wrong
2. The total required to win is 17, not 18, and the rule site I read is wrong
3. The total required to win is 18, one more than a basic majority, just to make it harder and more fun?

But after lots of reading and using my best counting abilities, I’m stumped.

Can anyone enlighten me further?

Indeed there are 34, you’re right! I don’t know what I overlooked, but I’m glad I offered my disclaimers about math. I definitely miscounted. Thanks.
