Accidental 'ignore'

Postby mr bump » 20 Feb 2014, 13:19

By mistake, hit the ignore button.

So now found that I have involuntarily surrendered. How do I get the game back.?

You can't hit ignore unless you already didn't have any units/SC left

And once the ignore button becomes available, it is also impossible to surrender. Unless there is some sort of glitch in this process in the Versailles coding (which is what the game Mr Bump is referring to is).

I think you can ignore as one country that has no SC/unit...and then be surrendered from your OTHER that may have left-overs.

Versailles

Yes, didn't want to refer to a specific game but it is Versailles.

Gareth you are aware of the game, and the subsequent shoutboxes?

It's now in my watched games.

Not sure how much information I should post here as it is a live game, but things are pretty obvious to all the players, but it does throw up some nuances with regards a Versailles game.

PM?

Well if that's the case then that must be a bug - doesn't sound right to me.

Will PM Dipsy on bump's behalf.

One can argue if this is a bug or not; after all, when you click Ignore you are asked to confirm hat you want to move the game from your Active Games list. So not only do you have to choose to IGNORE the game, but you have to confirm you want to stop playing it. This action therefore surrenders you because you said you did not want this game on your active list any longer.

However, I do see that the button should not say IGNORE while you have another country active. I suppose if it had said surrender then you might not have decided to hit the button. I will change the code to so that the button only says IGNORE when both countries have been eliminated.

I do not know where this comes from

Even with one country saying Ignore, the other would still say Surrender and therefore you can surrender with that one. Or of course with the Ignore button as happened to Mr Bump.

I am not really sure what to do about the game itself. I suppose that one could just about argue on the very fringes of reason that it is the code's fault for presenting the word Ignore, although I cannot for the life of me see why anyone would try to Ignore a game they were in. I guess I better put Mr Bump back unless someone has taken the position already.

Arguing aside, I should still be there as my minor power

If I could be 'reinserted' (ooch) that would be good.
