My game was stalemated, without agreement from me. What is up?

He's talking about this game: http://www.playdiplomacy.com/game_play_ ... e_id=66219

This game was not stalemated, but there was an agreed upon draw. I'm not sure what you mean when you say you didn't agree to it, seeing as you played as Russia and . . .

Current draw proposal accepted by RUSSIA

If all surviving players accept a draw, as happened here, that means everyone agrees to end the game. If you wanted to play on, you would have had to reject the draw, but that might have played right into Dukevongoblin's hands and shown that you might entertain thoughts of stabbing Turkey. Turkey didn't think France would accept the draw, but that's a risk you take when you make a draw offer like that to show solidarity with an ally. France, on the other hand, would risk Germany starting to doubt that France would stick by him. Everyone sort of felt handcuffed into accepting.

At least that's the way I interpreted the shoutbox chats at the end of the game.
You don't know what I'm thinking...because I don't know what I'm doing.

I have a feeling both Turkey and Russia thought that the draw proposal had been made for just the two of them...
Russia's confusion as well as Turkey's final post hint at some sort of lack of communication...

No, I think we all knew it was a 4-way proposal. (Including Germany in the proposal was partly to discourage France from accepting, and to subsequently use that rejection to argue to Germany that he was about to be stabbed and should switch sides.)

Maybe the confusion here is that I proposed the draw in early spring 1912; three of us accepted it that turn, and Dukevongoblin waited until F1912 to respond to the proposal. gwclough might have thought the proposal had expired at the end of the spring turn.

Sounds like there's no bug or problem, just confusion about how the draw rules work. For reference, you might check viewtopic.php?f=321&t=21783

I'm moving this to site rules, it seems more fitting there.

The stalemate was agreed to. Then there was a retreat. That, of course, should mean the stalemate needs to be re-proposed. I have no problem with the result, just that I had no chance to re-accept, something that should always be required once anything in the game change.

I am afraid that draw proposals don't work like that. If you accept a draw proposal then you cannot unaccept it, even if the game changes. You have effectively agreed to finish the game withthe proposed result. Of course if someone else rejects it, then that proposal is dead and the game will continue.

Well, draw proposals only last one game year. So you aren't permanently committed when you accept, but you are committed for a full year.

Obviously a flaw in the way the program handles draws.
