Scoring system & No of games played

Postby djantani » 18 May 2013, 18:44

There's been a lot of debate around the fact that a solo is worth less and less depending on the number of games played, going from 400 down to 50 points (assuming all players in a game have the same score). What would be interesting to know is whether that applies to losses as well, ie do I lose less points if I lose my game No 15 as opposed to NO 4? Or is it the number of games lost that counts? And if the answer is yes then in the long run, given that a solo gives me only 50 points, I would be looking to lose some 8-10 points presumably?!

Yes, as I understand, there is just an overall multiplier on your result that starts high and decreases to a constant. So on average, it shouldn't matter, it just shows up as a fluctuation if you happen to win or lose a lot at the beginning.

Yes, losses hurt less as well. Its all about confidence level that the system has with your score. The more games you play, the more info it has. So a win is expected if you win 1 out of 5 games, then it expects you to win that much...and similarly with a loss. (or 4) since that's what is expected of you.

The old system was just how many surrendered nations can you join to get higher rank!

Now its who has the best diplomatic skill to maintain a high elo. Anyone can play a lot and win some, but the good players have a higher ratio.
If you can, win.
If you can't, draw.
If you stab, succeed.
