Question about draws.

Hi, all. I'm presently in a game in which a draw has been proposed. Under the statistics tab it says, "Draw expires on: Fall 1908."

Does that mean that draw proposal will expire BEFORE Fall 1908 (i.e., immediately upon the conclusion of the spring retreats)? Or will the proposal remain active THROUGH Fall 1908, expiring after the fall retreats?

Many thanks for your help.

If i say "my birthday is on the first of January ", does
this mean that my birthday is December 31 ? :)

If the draw says it expires in Fall 1908, then it means it expires when Fall 1908 is finished. That is, after any Retreat or Build phases if any, or after Fall1908 Orders if not. At least I am pretty sure that is the way it works :)

Thanks so much for your response, Super_Dipsy. Of course, your caveat at the end makes me nervous. Any idea where I might turn for a definitive answer? The fate of a great nation depends on it. :)

If super_dipsy does not know, it is not to be known.

My reluctance to give a definite answer was based on the fact that I know I have answered this before, and I couldn't summon up the energy to check the code paths again having done it before. But I have done so now.

Each draw offered has an 'expire' date set in the draw record. The expire date is calculated in two ways:
1. If a draw is offered in an Order phase, the expire date is set such that the order expires at the END of the FOLLOWING order phase.
2. If a draw is offered in a Build or Retreat phase, the expire date is set to be the END of the NEXT BUT ONE order phase

Confusing isn't it. But that is it.

Different Question

Draws include all "survivors".

How are the points distributed if a draw that includes 5 players is proposed and some surrender or get eliminated before the draw expiration? If a 5-way draw is proposed and the 3 remaining players accept, does the system treat the result as a 3-way draw and award 4 points to each player?

Lol I think that means that if you say your birthday is on 1 January then that means it is at midnight going into 2 January...

No. If a 5-way draw is proposed then the number of points that goes to each participant is 1. If a player gets eliminated during the life of the draw proposal then the remaining 4 players will share a draw for 1 point each. That's as things currently stand, but as I said in my post replying to another thread I think that there is site development going on that will render draw proposals null and void if a player is eliminated during the life of the draw proposal. In other words, if a 5-way draw is proposed, one player gets eliminated, then that draw proposal will be cancelled. Then anyone can propose a new draw, this time a 4-way draw, and if all players accept then indeed each will get 3 points.
