Doomsday, Build only 1 Type of Unit

I started a game called Doomsday, password = doomsday. The point of the game is to see what happens if you can only build 1 type of unit the entire game. Obviously, you have a choice of fleets or armies, but once you decide on a type of unit that is all you can build. The deadlines are 12 hours and it would be nice to have some reliable, good players. Three people have joined already.

It looks pretty stupid to start with Winter1900 though, since no single country' except for England and Turkey are able to build 3 fleets in the first turn. That means that choosing fleets would probably mean you need to forego some builds.
Anyway I'd say apart from England, which must of course choose fleets (otherwise he can't get out of his island), the other countries should all build armies, as building fleets would mean they can be so easily invaded by other countries. Maybe with the only exception of Italy.

A fleet Italy would not be able to defend itself from Austria, which could easily take Venice. No, I would say that Italy, too needs to be all armies, but who the heck is going to take Tunis? England? And how does anyone stop England if they can't build fleets?

...as already stated, this is NOT a Winter 1900 variant, meaning any country could build only armies, with England having two fleets that can convoy and Italy having a fleet (two if it were fleet Rome) that can take or convoy to Tunis.

Missed it by a whisker. Interesting idea! Having read the forum debate which I assume sparked this idea I will follow this game with interest.
